ROSE DAY CELEBRATION: SPREADING LOVE, CARE, AND HOPE TO CANCER PATIENTS

CAN-STOP (Cancer Support Therapy to Overcome Pain), a renowned community-based organization, observed Rose Day on September 21, 2024, at the Institute of Child Health Hospital (ICH), Egmore, Chennai. This heartfelt event aimed to support cancer-affected children and women, promoting hope and resilience in their fight against the disease.

In association with Rotary District 3234, CAN-STOP organized an entertainment program, featuring esteemed guests:

– Mr. Kurinji Nathan, renowned actor
– Dr. Vijaya Bharathi Rangarajan, Founder, CAN-STOP, Trustee & Director, SMF
– Dr.Aruna, Associate Professor, Dept of Pediatric Hematology & Oncology,ICH & HC
– Rtn. J Sridhar, Past District Governor and other several Rotarians joined the program, demonstrating their unwavering support.

More than 300 patients and caregivers participated, enjoying:

– Welcome dance and prayer song by cancer-affected kids
– Captivating performances by Dr. MGR Janaki Women’s College students (dance, mime, and theater)
– Gift distribution to cancer-affected children and women’s wards

Rose Day commemorates Melinda Rose, a 12-year-old Canadian girl who inspired others with her courage and spirit during her battle with cancer. This symbol of love, care, and concern reminds patients that they can overcome challenges with strong willpower.

“Gift a Rose to SOME ONE you care…” embodies CAN-STOP’s mission to provide holistic support, counseling, awareness programs, and screening camps to those affected by cancer, particularly from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
