One of the salient features of RmKV Silks over the past 100 years has been launching innovative silk sarees for its customers. After having launched more than 100 innovative silk sarees in the past 100 years, in its 100th year RmKV Silks is launching 11 more silk sarees for this festive season.

Based on Natural colours
World’s first 4000 plus unique coloured fully silk saree with natural ingredients
• Using a wide variety of natural ingredients such as as indigo, myrobalan, pomegranate, Indian madder, Indian red creeper, gooseberry, and lac
99 flower silk saree based on Kurinchi paatu from Tamil Sangam Ilakiyam by poet Kabilar
• Dyed using traditional natural ingredients such as Indian madder, lac, and myrobalan, the design of the pallu of this saree revolves around the 99 flowers mentioned in Tamil Sangam literature (Kurinchi Paatu from Tamil Sangam Illakiyam by poet Kabilar).
Silk saree with Tree of life silk / Karpagavruksham
• The colours of this saree are dyed using traditional natural ingredients such as myrobalan, mulberry, and lac and the pallu showcases the Tree of Life (Karpagavruksham), a symbol of growth, strength, and connection.
Colour of the year 2024 – Peach Fuzz silk saree
• Dyed using natural sappan wood dyes, the Peach Fuzz which is the colour of the year showcases a fusion of Kanchipuram weaving with Paithani weaving. The border and pallu are woven using natural ingredient’s such as lac and pomegranate shells.
Based on Design
Dual shaded body Kalamkari border design
• Dual shaded Metallic Twill silk saree in Peacock blue and crimson, featuring subtle chevron stripes and Kalamkari-inspired horse motifs on the border and pallu.
Mandala art inspired design
• The saree features a captivating candy-pink body, adorned with delicate floral zari buttas and the border and pallu are inspired by Mughal Mandala art that add a touch of elegance and charm.
Bhujodi weaving inspired silk saree
• This unique saree features a serene pastel yellow body, he border design is inspired by the intricate Bhujodi weaving with a harmonious blend of colours including mustard, orange, maroon, teal, and pink.
Rare colour – Veridian silk saree
• The plain body of the saree is dyed in one of the rarest and most exquisite colors, “Viridian” with a 11-inch contrast crimson border and pallu, designed with traditional motifs such as kamalam (lotus) and panner sombu (water pot).
Based on Fabric
Utilizing a patented leno weaving technique, these range of sarees are 40% lighter than traditional silk sarees, offering unparalleled comfort and elegance.
Handwoven cutwork type Lino light
• The body of the saree is designed in a partly style, featuring two distinct sections. The first section of the saree is adorned with intricate pine tree meena motifs on a plain orange background, exuding a vibrant and traditional charm. The adjacent portion of the body showcases geometrical floral vine motifs, woven using the patented lino technique.
Payadi Tissue Lino light
• The body of the saree is designed in the traditional Payadi (basket weave) style, featuring translucent checks that add a unique texture and visual appeal. Adorned with pavun (gold coin) buttas in a rich crimson shade, the body exudes a regal charm. The contrast border is inspired by the intricate floral motifs from Mughal era, meticulously crafted using golden zari threads.
Lino Varna
• The body of the saree is adorned with Mughal-inspired meenakari floral vine motifs arranged in diagonal stripes. These intricate designs are interspersed with adjacent stripes woven using the Lino technique, creating a beautiful contrast and adding a unique translucent texture to the saree.
RmKV with 100 years of heritage in Silk is known for some of the unique creations such as Hamsa Damayanthi Chinnanchiru Kiliye, Durbar Krishna, Aishwarya Pookkal and Kural Ovium; the Grand Reversible Saree, the 50000-Colour saree, the Varnajaalam range, the innovative Natural Silk, Revival range of sarees, Lino Light – the saree that breathes and many more. RmKV has also won two National Awards for designs and innovative techniques in weaving.
RmKV is reputed for its wedding silks, unique silk sarees, as well as family apparel, with large showrooms in Chennai – (stores at T Nagar, Nexus Vijaya Mall-Vadapalani and Phoenix Market City-Velachery), Tirunelveli, Coimbatore and Bangalore.
RmKV has also constantly innovated the technique and process of weaving silk sarees. One such effort is the introduction of pneumatic looms, which are less cumbersome for the weaver. This has encouraged many women to take to weaving and provide additional livelihood to their families.
