Shorinji Kempo India announced the 15-Member Team who will represent India at the
Shorinji Kempo World Taikai 2023
Chennai, September 29th 2023: Shorinji Kempo Taikai 2023 (A Japanese Martial Art) will be held in Tokyo
from October 6th to 13th. A 15-member team from India headed by the Shorinji Kempo India country head,
Dr. Maxwell Jude Anthony will participate in competitive events.
India will debut at this prestigious World Taikai 2023 as an OFFICIAL TEAM-INDIA. This team-India, belongs
to the golden triangle of Indo-Sino-Nippon, which cradled martial arts. Team-India will proudly represent their
nation, from which this all started way back in 500 AD. This team-India, is in the lineage of Sakyamuni
Buddha, Bodhi Dharuman.
Speaking at the press conference regarding the upcoming world championship, Dr. Maxwell Jude Anthony,
Shorinji Kempo India Country Head, said “I would like to give my students the experience ace of being on an
international platform. So far, only Sensei Kirtie Kumar Futnani and I have represented India at the World
Championships. Given the size of the Indian population, it was sad that only two of us participated in the
previous event. However, now I am proud to take my team to the international event.”
Team India will be representing both the country and the founder of Shorinji Kempo in India, Sensei Kirtie
Kumar Futnani.
The 15-Member team comprises Children aged 9+ years to Adults aged 67+ years.
Girls/Women:
Sukriti, Samara, Laya, Khadija, Yugalakshmi, Harsha.
Boys/Men:
Yuva, Sumukh, Prathyush, Hatim, Taher, Shenkathir, Ramakrishnan and Shankar.
This team is headed by the Shorinji Kempo India Country Head, Dr. Maxwell Jude Anthony who has been
practicing this art since 1990 in India; Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
