A Musical Workshop presented by KM Music Conservatory at the Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University
Chennai, March 1st 2023: A Musical Workshop was hosted as a part of the Concert for Friendship project week was presented by KM Music Conservatory at the Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University.
A cultural exchange will be promoted between Western and Eastern musicians and students as the team from Big Noise -Sistema Scotland (UK) and KM Music Conservatory visit the Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University to experience the rich heritage of Indian classical music and dance.
This kind of international sharing in the spirit of friendship builds life long bonds and shapes futures, opening a world of possibilities for future explorations.
The Scottish musicians will share the stage with the choir from the TNMFAU during the final concert performance on March 4th in a special collaborative performance.
As many students of KM Music Conservatory perform on western instruments that are not so common to see or hear in India like clarinet and bassoon. The Musical Workshop has introduced the sounds and playing styles to the students. They were engaged and entertained in learning about music making and the similarities and differences between Western classical and Indian classical styles.
Big Noise is delivered by the charity Sistema Scotland, which was created to improve lives, strengthen communities and help children and young people to realise their potential. They use music and nurturing relationships through the Big Noise orchestra programmes to give children an invaluable range of life skills and experiences. Big Noise focuses on early years’ intervention and long-term delivery working with children at a very young age and throughout their entire school journey.
