Chennai,10th September 2022: Hon’ble Minister of School Education of Tamil Nadu – Thiru. Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and Ms. Sarah Kirlew (Australian Counsel General to South India) inaugurate ‘Build HQ’ – India’s first Building Material and Interior Superstore at Egmore Chennai.
Build HQ is a Building Material and Interior Superstore and a real-world platform bridging the gap between Consumers, Architects, Interior Designers and the Building Material Industry. Build HQ is a 55,000 sq. ft prime space in Egmore, the heart of Chennai, which will also include brand stalls in an open exhibition format, meeting / collaborative spaces, AV rooms, co-working spaces, and a design lounge cafe to enable a full day of seamless business for the fraternity.
Build HQ is a platform for architects and interior designers, a collaborative platform to interact, network and connect with brands from various geographies, thus bringing the community together.

There will be more than 250 participants at the grand launch, which is set for September 10th 2022 in Chennai. Participants will include HNIs, architects, designers, and members of the construction communities. The evening will comprise 2 keynote Speaker Sessions, one of which will be addressed by Prof. Jimmy Lim (Malaysia) and the other keynote speaker will be Ar. Raj Rewal’s (New Delhi) session will include a film screening on his work and a talk by him. This will be followed by a moderated discussion & Q&A by both keynote speakers.
About the Speakers:
Prof. Jimmy Lim (Malaysia):
An internationally renowned architect recognized for his lateral approach to design. He challenges current trends with a style that is both unconventional and uncompromising and has opened doors to new ways of thinking in architecture. Prof. Jimmy Lim was president of the Malaysian Institute of Architects, (Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia, or PAM), and received their gold medal for lifetime services to the architecture profession. Prof. Jimmy Lim is an advocate of natural design and the use of wood in construction.
Ar. Raj Rewal’s (New Delhi):
A doyen of Indian architecture, his work weaves heritage and history into a modern vocabulary. His craft speaks for itself and his creations embody the concept of the architectural ‘Rasa’ – the spirit of a building. Ar. Raj Rewal is a celebrated Indian architect and urban design consultant who studied architecture in New Delhi and London. His humanist approach to architecture responds to the complexities of rapid urbanisation, the demands of climate, cultural traditions, and building crafts and technologies.
