Malaysia Food and Cultural Festival ‘Selamat Datang’ to Delight Chennai at Crowne Plaza Adyar Park Hotel

Chennai, 17th August 2023 – Crowne Plaza Chennai Adyar Park Hotel is thrilled to present the Malaysia Food and Cultural Festival – ‘Selamat Datang,’ a delightful 10-day celebration of diverse Malaysian cuisine from 26th August 2023 to 4th September 2023. Guests will have the opportunity to indulge in Visual delight of having Malaysian Artists give dance performance accompanied by wide array of multi-ethnic authentic dishes, lovingly crafted by three renowned chefs from Malaysia, bringing an unforgettable gastronomic experience to the city.

This event will be inaugurated by the Consul General of Malaysia, His Excellency Mr. Saravana Kumar. The Clients who will be dining at The Residency, Crowne Plaza during this event stand a chance to win a couple full board package Including flight tickets by Batik Air and another Couple also will get to win Ground Package at Malaysia excluding flight tickets.

The two countries enjoy a strong relationship and presently India and Malaysia have established close political, economic and Socio-Cultural relations. India being one of the Top contributors for Tourists arrival into Malaysia, Malaysia Food and Cultural Festival 2023 happening in The Crowne Plaza, Chennai will be showcasing the specialty of Malaysia Culinary delights, unique and multi-cultural facets in order to entice more Indian Travellers into choosing Malaysia as the favoured Destination”.

Director of Tourism Malaysia (South India &SriLanka) Mr. Razaidi Abd Rahim shared that, “With the huge demand for more flights from South India to Malaysia, we are extremely glad to inform about Batik Air starting their operations of daily flights from Chennai into Kuala Lumpur effective 24 August 2023. We are extremely thankful for the partners, Crowne Plaza, Sama – Sama Hotel KL International Airport, Batik Air, Borneo Brothers Tours & Travel SDN BHD and VG Maju Tour & Travels in making this occasion possible. The Malaysian Chefs from Kuala Lumpur have come all the way to Chennai to please the palates with flavours that reflect the strong, spicy, aromatic nature of Malaysia cuisine and showcase how it’s a perfect confluence of the different cultures which have influenced it.”

Group Strategy Director of Batik Air and Lion Air Group, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy said, “With India being a rapidly growing market for travel, this collaboration with Tourism Malaysia aims to capitalize on the increasing propensity of Indian travellers to explore international destinations”.

This year, Malaysia is currently targeting 16.1 million international tourist arrivals with RM49.3 billion in tourism receipts. India remains to be among the top countries to contribute tourist arrivals to Malaysia. In 2022, Malaysia welcomed a total of 324,548 Indian tourists, while from January to May 2023, Malaysia received as many as 230,865 Indian tourists compared to 37,198 in the same period last year.

This festival will feature classics such as the Laksa, Mee Goreng, Nasi lemak, Char Kuey Teow, to name a few and also some specially crafted innovations and more; This Extravaganza event with a staggering selection of traditional recipes will be at The Residency – Crowne Plaza, Chennai Adyar Park from 26 August 2023 to 04 September 2023.

Currently, there are 158 flights with 30,032 seats offered weekly between India and Malaysia through Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, AirAsia and IndiGo. Indian tourists can now apply for Malaysia’s eVISA Multiple Entry Visa (MEV) through https://malaysiavisa.imi.gov.my/evisa/evisa.jsp.

The festival’s culinary experts Mr.Zulkefli Bin Wahiludin, Mr. Donny Anak Gerunsin and Ms. Ester Maranatha Anak Michael from Sama Sama Hotel- KL International Airport with their extensive experience in the culinary field, mastering Malay Cuisine are all set to demystify the traditions and practices found in Malaysia.
