Sumangala Steelinstitutes“UngalKuzhandayumAagalaam Engineer” Scholarships
~ For children of workers in the construction industry and employees of steel dealers ~
~ Awarded to eligible students for the entire duration of their course (3 / 4 years) ~
Chennai, 7th October 2023 : Sumangala Steelestablished in 1985 is one of the pioneers of the steel industry in Tamil Nadu and Puducherryand has been in the forefront of technology over the last 35 years.Today, as a leading brand of TMT widely used in the construction industry, Sumangala wanted to give back to its community by instituting the Sumangala“UngalKuzhandhayumAagalaam Engineer”Scholarship CSR initiative. All children of workers in the construction industry and employees of steel dealers are eligible for this scholarship.
The thought behind the initiative:
Every worker in the Construction industry and employeesin steel dealerships have been working under qualified engineers for years. It is but natural that they would aspire fortheir children to become like the engineers that they have been working with for years.
Sumangala, with its excellent understanding of steel, has delivered high quality TMT, making construction workers’ lives easier and more rewarding at their work place for decades.These workers in turn have rewarded Sumangala with their trust and confidence.
Now with this Sumangala scholarship for these children, Sumangala wishes to play an even bigger part in their lives, by helping them and their children achieve their dream.
Scholarship highlights:
• Supports the children of construction workers and steel dealershipemployeesto become Engineers.
• Scholarship available for both degree and diploma courses in engineering in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry
• Eligible candidates were selected based on Plus Two marks with a basic 70% cut off
• Beyond which, the awardees were chosenthrougha lucky draw.
• Sumangala scholarship covers their education subject to a maximum of Rs. 1 lakh per year.
• Sumangala is giving these students their very own laptops to help them as they embark on their engineering studies.
The scholarship would continue to be awarded to these students for the entire duration of their course (3 / 4 years), subject to them fulfilling some essential benchmarks on grades, discipline, attendance etc.
Sumangala wishes to establish these scholarships as an ongoing activity supporting the children of construction workers and employee of steel dealers for years to come.
